QuikTrip Planning Gasless Location
TULSA, Oklahoma - QuikTrip is a Tulsa staple, founded in the city back in 1958. The draw is still strong today.
"I come here every morning, get my gas in the morning and get my coffee," said QT customer Charles Verner.
The Oklahoma grown company has branched out to states across the nation. Now, the company is testing out a new concept. That concept is a convenience store without the gas.
"I believe it would be a lot quicker because then I wouldn't have all the traffic of the gas people," said shopper Dustin Dickey.
The new concept store will be about 3,500 square feet and offer the same food and drink selections that are already so popular in the stores.
"I see a lot of them come over here to just grab lunch and get a quick drink," added Dickey.
The convenience store concept will be tested in Atlanta before potentially popping up in other larger metros.
The question here, will one be built in Tulsa?
QuikTrip's Mike Thornbrough says it's a possibility.
The convenience store concept is part of the company's long-term strategy and with more development moving into the downtown area, Tulsa could be an option.
Although Thornbrough says it's all about the right place and the right time.
And while many patrons we spoke to say they'd be all for a gasless store, other's say that's not their style.
"We need gas, man while you're getting food too," said Verner.
Either way, patrons will have to wait to see what's in store for the company's home base.
