BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma - It's an age-old question - what's the secret to happiness?

Well, the people of Broken Arrow might have the answer; the city was named the second-happiest mid-sized city in the country.

Explaining why Broken Arrow ranked so high is easy, but unlocking the riddle to true happiness is a little more difficult.

We asked downtown Broken Arrow, “What do you think is the secret to happiness,” and it wasn't tough to come up with answers.

Angie Baublit said, "Love."

"I would have to go with, good relationships in life," Logan Engel said.

For Kolton Stach and Rolanda Blevins, it was family.

"Family is key. Being happy with your family," Stach said.

Blevins said, "My family. Being with my family and my friends."

Finally, Coltin Jones had a different outlook, "Somebody told me the other day it was the pursuit of Happy Meals,"

According to the numbers, Broken Arrow is the second-happiest mid-sized American city.

A career-finding company called Zippia took four years' worth of data from the American Community Survey - everything from people's educations to the city's unemployment rate, cost of living, poverty rate, commutes to work, home ownership, and family status - and calculated which cities ranked the highest.

"It's a good thing to be number two on Best Midsized Happy City,” said BA Chamber president, Wes Smithwick.

He said being on this list is a great recruitment tool.

"Helps demonstrate that there's some proof in the pudding, if you will. So, yeah, we do use these things," Smithwick said.

Broken Arrow itself is pretty happy about the findings, but not surprised.

"Since I've moved here, I've only been here about what - six, seven years - it's the best place I've ever lived," one resident said.
