Tulsa Man Hits Police Car, Takes Off

A woman is in the hospital and a man in jail after a police say he slammed into a Tulsa patrol SUV - and then drove off. Police tell us the wreck could have been deadly but instead the woman who was injured has broken bones.

Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, November 13, on Skelly at Memorial, officers had stopped a woman. Police were outside of their vehicles when a white pickup hauling a trailer slammed into the back of the police SUV.

The crash briefly pinned the woman, and the pickup driver took off.

Police say the woman went to the hospital with at least a broken leg and possibly a broken hip. Officers found the suspect's truck because they followed the leaking fluids to a house and saw the damaged pickup.

The suspect's name is Johnie Dwayne Hunter of Tulsa. He was booked into jail on complaints of leaving the scene of an accident and other traffic violations.

The two officers were not hurt, but the police SUV is totaled.
