Tulsa Man Dies After Being Dragged By Vehicle
TULSA, Oklahoma - Tulsa Homicide Detectives are investigating after an incident at a convenience store near 51st and Yale.
According to police, around 8 p.m. officers were called to reports of a man down in the parking lot of Ryan’s Convenience Store at 4711 S. Braden. Officers found 54-year-old Stephen Cook unresponsive on the sidewalk outside the store. Cook was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives say that upon reviewing video from the area they saw Cook talking with someone in an SUV. They say Cook was holding some sort of bag or satchel. The SUV backed out of a parking spot and dragged Cook a short distance by the satchel. Cook was able to stand up after the vehicle left and walk to the sidewalk, where he collapsed. Detectives say they are waiting for word from the Medical Examiner’s Office on the exact cause of death.
The investigation is ongoing.
