Jim Bridenstine Talks Space Defense On Apollo 8 Anniversary
TULSA, Oklahoma - This week, President Donald Trump ordered the Defense Department to revive the once-retired U.S. Space Command. Space Command is an entirely different entity than the more ambitious Space Force plan.
NASA Administrator and former congressman for Oklahoma Jim Bridenstine visited News On 6 Friday night to talk about the importance of defending assets in space on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 8 mission.
"We have hundreds of billions of dollars worth of technology and capability in space as an agency," Bridenstine said.
"That technology and capability needs to be protected. Plus we have humans on the international space station, and they need to be safe as well."
Vice President Mike Pence said under Trump's directive, Space Command will integrate space capabilities across all branches of the military.
