ROGERS COUNTY, Oklahoma - Dorothea Butanda set to be released from prison after serving 9 months of what was originally a 9-year sentence

Butanda is the mother of Gage and Dakota Shriver who are both in prison for a 2015 hit and run crash that killed Noelle New and severely injured Maranda Talley in Rogers County.

Butanda pled guilty to accessory after the fact of 2nd-degree murder and accessory to leaving the scene or a fatal crash and injury crash and also, obstructing (lying to) officers. After her initial 9 year sentence, she tried twice to withdraw her guilty plea, but the judge declined.

In January of this year, the judge shortened her sentence to 3 years in prison, with the rest suspended.

According to the state of OK, based on credits she received for good behavior and taking classes, etc, her time in prison is over, but, she will have to wear a GPS monitor for the remainder. Read below for more information the GPS Monitor program.
