A new grocery store is now open in the Crystal City Shopping Center near I-44 and West 41st Street. It has been six months since the only grocery store in that center closed its doors.

Save More Food Market officially opened its doors to the public Monday morning, May 6.

Save More Food Market representatives cut the ribbon to official open their new store after the building was empty for months.

It is a new store, with new owners, but a lot of the same employees are returning. The new grocery store in the Crystal City Shopping Center will employ around 30 full-time and part-time positions.

You will also be able to use Facebook market ads to take advantage of weekly specials.

West Tulsa residents are thrilled the doors are officially open. Suzy Prather is one of those people that have been waiting for months for a new grocery store to open up.

"For now I have been driving to Aldi's in Sand Springs, but this is where I would rather come," said shopper Suzy Prather. "I was a loyal customer of this place, and I'm sorry it took so long to get it open again."

The store expanded its features to have an on-site butcher with meat cut fresh daily and fresh produce, something Suzy loves.

"I'm a single person, and maybe I can ask that butcher if he will give me one pork chop or two pork chops instead of - you know," she said.

Their plan is to also have fresh local seasonal produce available for customers.

Store Manager Jim Kulchinski said it took them four months to get the store ready, and they had to install at least a hundred new shelves to fit all the items.

"We are going to offer clean, friendly, value basically," he said. "They are going to be able to come in and get a value item that is comparable to national brands with a good price, good owner and smaller store."

Suzy said the store is perfect for her because it's close, everything is easy to find, and it fits all of her needs.

"When I go to the big store and look down the aisle, and there is from this end to that end of sugary syrup, my eyes just kind of glaze over," she said. "I don't want that much choice."

The store will be open from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. every day, according to the store manager.
