Oklahoma State University says they plan to offer a tribal finance and accounting certificate program.
The university will hold a pilot program in November and then launch the program in May. OSU says the introductory level is ideal for people who do not have a finance or business background like elected officials or directors within the tribe.
The goal of the program is to help people understand the basic framework of Federal Indian law, including tribal jurisdiction, Indian land holdings, and sovereign immunity.
There are intermediate and advanced-level programs being developed as well.
