Police find a 17-year-old woman shot in the hip after stopping a speeding car early Friday.

A few minutes prior to stopping that car, police had gotten a call about multiple shots fired in the 2600 block of East 2nd Street just before 2 a.m.  When officers arrived in the area, they spotted a car headed east at a high rate of speed.  They eventually stopped the car in the 4100 block of East Archer.

The car's 20-year-old driver told police that a passenger in another car had pulled up along side his car at 3rd and Lewis, opened fire, hitting his passenger in the hip.

EMSA took the teenage victim to the hospital in critical condition.

Police found several shell casings at 3rd and Lewis and are continuing to investigate.
