Body camera video just released by the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office shows the moments after a chase ended with a woman, who is now in jail.
The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office said Makita McCush drove through a person's yard, then tried to run away near 10th St. and 63rd W. Avenue Thursday morning.
They caught up with her a couple of blocks away.
David Singleton watched the scene unfold.
"I come out the back-door yelling 'hey hey hey get out of my yard’," Singleton said.
Inside the woman's Jeep, deputies found a lockbox disguised as a dictionary.
But it wasn't words and definitions they found inside.
"There was a crack pipe, some methamphetamines, some Xanax, some other pills, some marijuana," said Casey Roebuck with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.
This all started downtown, where the sheriff's office said McCush was driving recklessly, running red lights and nearly hitting someone walking.
Deputies said they tried to stop McCush but she was going 60 miles an hour at one point, so they decided to end the chase.
"It's just not worth the risk to public safety," Roebuck said.
Not long after, Deputy Yerton spotted McCush near Charles Page Boulevard and took her into custody.
The sheriff's office said thankfully, no one was hurt.
"Lucky nobody got hit or somebody got run over. Anything could have happened," Singleton said.
McCush also has a felony warrant out of Woodward County for having stolen property.
