Gun right advocates plan to rally at the state Capitol this morning to encourage Governor Mary Fallin to sign the "Constitutional Carry" bill into law.

So far, the governor hasn't indicated if she plans to sign or veto the bill.  If she does sign it, it would go into effect in November.

The Oklahoma Second Amendment Association announced the rally on their Facebook page.

The group supports the bill, which would allow any Oklahoma resident 21 or older, who is not a convicted felon to carry firearms without a permit.  Currently, those with a carry-license must pass a gun-safety course and background check.

Opponents say constitutional carry would do away with the OSBI background check that is more in-depth than the national check.

"This not only jeopardizes public safety but it would allow people with a dangerous history carrying a loaded handgun in places that Oklahoma families frequent every day," said Audrey Burro of Moms Demand Action.

Both the state House and Senate passed the bill last week.

Today's rally is set to start at 10 a.m. on the 2nd floor of the state Capitol.
