Voters in the Tulsa Union School district passed two bond issues totaling $129 million Tuesday.

The money will be used for several projects over the next five years, including finishing construction at Ellen Ochoa Elementary.

“I am extremely grateful to belong to a community that understands the importance of investing in our students and teachers. Voters overwhelmingly supported our district’s five-year series bond, the first in Union’s history. Passage of the two measures will allow us to complete the construction of Ellen Ochoa Elementary and fund a new Fine Arts, Athletic and classroom renovation at Union High School. We’re excited about the introduction of our one-to-one initiative for our students and improved safety on our buses.  Our theme was ‘Believing in U,’ and clearly, our families believe in Union’s mission of ‘100% Graduation, College and Career Ready.’ Thank you," said Union Superintendent, Dr. Kirt Hartzler.

The district also has plans for a new fine arts building and renovations to the football stadium.
