Some Tulsa newlyweds are using their first anniversary to help others.
This weekend, the couple known as 'MOJO' is throwing a party to raise awareness for a good cause.
Jamie Oldaker said the idea was all Mary's idea. Mary is his wife of one year.
The pair, also known as MOJO, wants to have a party while giving back to a cause close to both of their hearts.
"You always think about organizations you hear more about, so we are just trying to get the word out that the Day Center needs your help," she said.
Mojofest 2017 will take over Downtown Tulsa's East Village this weekend with every single dollar being directly donated to the Day Center for the Homeless.
"It isn't just about the money but also the hundreds of people that will attend that party and will now know about the Day Center," said Sandra Lewis.
A $20-dollar ticket will get you in to see all different genres of music, something lifelong musician Jamie can't wait to showcase.
"And now it is time to give something back to the city and the state that has been so great to me," Jamie Oldaker said.
And that $20 goes a long way, a lot longer than many of us even realized.
"Twenty dollars, for example, will buy two birth certificates for people who maybe don't have a photo ID, and so the next $20 could help buy their ID once they get their birth certificates," Lewis said.
Something Lewis said might not seem a lot to most people, but could be the first step towards changing someone's life.
"It is vital, absolutely vital. We couldn't function without this caring community and this community is amazing so giving," Lewis said.
