Union Public Schools is taking steps to protect its students. The district told parents in a newsletter sent out Tuesday that board members approved buying a video surveillance system for Grove and Moore Elementary Schools.
Voter-approved bond money is paying for the nearly $77,000 system.
Union's school board also approved a $121,000 bid to install new LED lighting in the gymnasiums and outside areas at Jefferson, Moore, and Rosa Parks Elementary schools.
The gym lights will be motion sensing and have dimming controls to help save the district money.
