Tulsa Students Test STEM Skills With Gingerbread Contest

Dozens of Tulsa students put their STEM skills to the test Saturday with a gingerbread contest at Tulsa's Hardesty Regional Library.  

Students made small-scale versions of famous buildings across the nation. 

From buildings like The Pentagon to the White House, students showcased 16 gingerbread scales.

Organizers say this is a perfect way to mix science with creativity.

“It's an exciting way to get students interested in something they haven't thought about before,” said Caroline Conner of the Tulsa Regional Stem Alliance. “Maybe they haven't thought about architecture and all the elements of science and math that go into that, and they are able to be creative at the same time.”

This is the fourth year of the competition.
