Disabled veteran Melvin Baker got a surprise from his neighbors in Wagoner. Baker, who is blind, filed a claim with his insurance company after getting hail damage on his roof.

They were only going to pay a fraction of his claim. Baker, a 30-year resident of Wagoner, called Craig's Roofing.

"We came out, we found some damage, but he didn't have quite enough for the insurance to pay for it, but he's in such shape that he can't do it by himself, so we just helped him," said owner Craig Wilson.

A lot of the workers at Craig's Roofing are also veterans, Wilson said, so they decided it was time to step up.

"He's a military veteran, he's disabled, on a limited income," Wilson said. Wilson and his employees donated the labor, and Southern Shingles donated materials.

"Thank God I'm still here and they're getting things done for me," Baker said. "I appreciate it - best blessing I've had."
