Fire gutted their old school four years ago, but Wednesday, the 375 students at Tulsa' School of Arts and Sciences started classes in their brand new home - and that's music to their ears!

As they have for the past 16-years - TSAS started the new school year with the sound of bagpipes playing for students.

It's a familiar sound for them as they begin classes in a new place - the Roosevelt Building at Owen Park in the 3400 block of East Archer Street.

Crews spent the past few months painting, remodeling, and updating the building - and they're still putting on the finishing touches.

The move not only gives the charter school a permanent home, but also allows it to serve more students.

"We've never had a middle school, and this allows us to start with the seventh grade and grow that so that we'll be from grades seven through twelve next year," said Eric Doss, TSAS Executive Director.

TPS bond money, insurance money from the fire, and donations helped pay for improvements to the school.
