A group of Global Gardens kids tried something new for the summertime. They took a big bag of blueberries, and turned it into ice cream.
"We picked the blueberries at Thunderbird Berry Farm out in Broken Arrow," said garden educator Cat Cox.
They picked them last week, and the berries been in the freezer ever since.
The students researched recipes on the computer and found one they liked. They use four cups of blueberries, sugar, some vanilla; bring it to a boil; add the half and half.
It’s fun, but also educational.
"The garden is a natural kind of educational resource for math, measuring," Cox said.
And when the ice cream is done - you have something cold on a hot day.
