The Metropolitan Environmental Trust held a free recycling event Saturday for old smoke alarms and fire extinguishers.
The M.e.t.'s executive director Graham Brannin says its important that residents don't toss old smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in the trash for safety reasons.
In addition, the M.e.t. also accepted old mercury thermometers and thermostats at Saturday's event in mid-town Tulsa.
