A 14-year-old Tulsa boy entered a plea of guilty as a juvenile offender to a child abuse death in 2015. Dinero Reddick was charged with the murder of his toddler cousin, Charity Simmons.

He was sentenced Monday to 45 years in the custody of the Office of Juvenile Affairs with 20 years suspended.

Charity Simmons was 2 years old when she died June 26, 2015. The Medical Examiner's Office said her cause of death was strangulation and multiple blunt impacts to her head, neck and torso.

Reddick, who was 13 at the time, was staying with the girl's mother when the mother went to a bar and then a friend's house. At 4:20 a.m., he found her not breathing and took her body door to door looking for help.

The mother, Christina Renee Simmons, was charged with child neglect. She has a status conference set on July 12, 2016.
