It's not a spring or summer weekend in Oklahoma without festivals, and as Confucius once said, "there's never a bad time for barbecue."
The Boots and BBQ Festival in Claremore wrapped up on Saturday.
It's sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, with more than 30 teams competing.
There also was a backyard barbecue division for amateurs.
"For those guys that just grill in the backyard all the time and smoke meat and just want to come together and start to compete a little bit, maybe they were thinking about a deeper competition but they weren't quite ready to take the plunge,” Claremore Expo Director Tanya Andrew said. “We have some great backyard cooks back there."
The Claremore Reveille Rotary Club hosted the event, and it uses the money to help schools in Rogers County.
