Oklahoma Army National Guard Chopper Fights Fire Near Leonard

Bixby and other firefighters fought a wildfire south of Tulsa near Leonard Monday afternoon.

Storm spotter Darren Stephens was there as crews worked to contain the fire. The fire burned on Leonard Mountain near Bixhoma Lake.

It started as a small fire near a very rural area. It quickly spread, and additional crews from Glenpool, Sapulpa, Jenks, Bixby and Stone Bluff were called in to help.

The Oklahoma Army National Guard sent in a Black Hawk helicopter which used a large bucket to fight the fire from the air. So far no structures have been lost.
