Friday afternoon, a Sand Springs school bus was involved in an accident that left the children on board with bumps and bruises.
Officials say the bus was heading west on 51st Street when a trailer came unhitched from an eastbound truck and crossed into their lane.
Sand Springs police said the person who caused the wreck left the scene. They are now looking for the driver of the truck.
Concerned parents gathered around the bus to check on their children after getting an alert from the school that the bus hit the small trailer that came loose from the pickup.
For some of the elementary school students on the bus, the minor crash was very upsetting.

“The bus driver, I'm pretty sure that trailer got off the truck and she slammed on the brakes very hard, and almost everybody on the bus hit their face on the seats,” one student said.
The children saw the trailer veer across 51st Street into the path of the bus. The police said the pickup was towing it, going the other direction, and it came loose.
Captain Todd Enzbrenner with SSPD said, “Trailer came across in front of the bus, driver slammed on the brakes, hit the trailer, kids hit their face on the back of the seats.”
“Some of them busted their lips, and some hit their nose, and some hit their face, but I think I'm the only one who hurt their toe,” another student said.
The children ranged from kindergarten through fifth grade and were from Limestone Elementary. Only one needed medical attention, but she ended up going home with a parent.
Assistant Superintendent, Rob Miller, said, “There was one young lady who had slid under a seat and hurt the side of her head, her neck, and we took her off the bus and had paramedics look at her.”
About half the children went home from the scene with parents, the rest stayed on to finish the ride, with a story to tell when they got home.
Student: “Some of the kids got hurt and the other kids were fine, they were just scared.”
Emory: “Fall out of their seats?”
Student: “Yes.”
Emory: “Hit their nose?”
Student: “Yes, and their heads.”
Emory: “What about you?”
Student: “I just hit my head. I was fine.”
Police are still looking for the truck and driver. It's a white Ford, extended cab dually pickup that was going east on 51st near Highway 97 at 2:45 Friday afternoon.
