Alan Crone's Weather Blog: Sunny Today & Windy This Weekend

Temperatures have dropped in the 20s this morning.   Expect highs this afternoon in the upper 40s and lower 50s along with sunshine and southwest wind at 10 mph. 

The weekend looks good despite the increasing clouds and the chance for some showers Sunday afternoon and evening.   While temperatures will move into the upper 50s and lower to mid-60s Saturday and Sunday, the pressure gradient is expected to tighten rapidly this weekend.   This means gusty south winds Saturday from 15 to 25 mph and even stronger south winds Sunday from 20 to 35 mph.   A few gusts near 40 mph will be possible Sunday afternoon and wind advisories may be required for a few counties across northeastern OK during the midday period.

A weak front will move across part of the state Monday and this should knock the highs back down in the 50s for most of the northern third of the state with some lower 60s to the south.   The remainder of the week remains slightly unsettled in the data, but the trend of above normal temperatures will remain.      Tuesday and Wednesday some sections of extreme eastern OK may experience a few showers but the majority of the area will remain dry.  Temperatures will remain in the upper 50s and lower 60s for the middle of the week.  

Christmas Day could support a few showers across the extreme eastern sections, which is change from yesterday’s data, but would continue with warmer than normal temperatures.   Highs for Christmas could range in the mid to upper 60s north and a few lower 70s south.    Increasing rain and storms chances will be in the forecast for the weekend following Christmas.
