Oklahoma state troopers say an 84-year-old pedestrian has been killed after a car she was helping guide struck and pinned her between the vehicle and a parked truck.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Adair resident Velma Dickerson was guiding a car that was backing up Saturday at the Mayes County Fairgrounds near Pryor.

Troopers say as the driver backed the car up, it struck Dickerson and briefly pinned her between the car and a parked pickup truck.
Dickerson was taken to an area hospital and died from her injuries.

The driver, an 84-year-old woman, was uninjured. Troopers indicated on an incident report that the cause of the collision was "improper backing."
