Tulsa Police blamed a truck fire on a small mobile meth lab. One man, who ran from the burning truck, was taken into custody. Another suspect, who may have been burned in the fire, hasn't yet been captured.
Police and firefighters were called to the 6800 block of South Peoria Avenue shortly after midnight on a call of a vehicle fire. When they got there, they found flames coming from under the truck a "one pot" meth lab in the passenger seat of the truck. Both driver's side and passenger doors were standing open.
A witness said two men ran from the truck, one going toward 71st Street. Police went to the QuikTrip near 71st and Riverside and arrested Michael Detmer, 29, for meth manufacture and resisting arrest after a shoot chase.
They identified the second suspect, but he wasn't in custody as of early Saturday morning. Police believe he may have burns to his upper thigh, groin or stomach.
Firefighters put the fire out, and Hazmat crews were called in to handle the meth lab. Officers say it's a very dangerous and explosive method of making the drug.
