Tulsa Man Drowns At Fort Gibson Lake

A Tulsa man drowned after jumping off the front of a pontoon boat on Fort Gibson Lake in Mayes County Saturday afternoon, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement Division.

A Tulsa man drowned after jumping off the front of a pontoon boat on Fort Gibson Lake in Mayes County Saturday afternoon, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement Division. 

He has been identified as David S. Walton, 45.

Troopers said Walton was on a pontoon boat tied up to other stationary vessels at Spring Creek. He jumped off around 3:45 p.m. and never resurfaced.

His body was recovered just after 9 p.m. in the same area, 50 yards from shore in 11 feet of water. Walton was not wearing a life preserver, the drowning report states.

OHP investigated the drowning.
