Out of the ashes of the old Bowen Indian Baptist Church comes housing for those in need.
The site of the church was given to Tulsa Habitat for Humanity to build new homes.
The rain slowed construction this spring, but volunteers and workers still managed to finish construction of Tamara Walker's new home.
She received her keys Tuesday afternoon after completing Habitat's program.
"She's an outstanding young lady. She teaches school at Debra Brown. She has a couple kids. Really had a goal in her mind back when I met her back in August of last year, and she started our program in December. So she completed this really quick like," said Paul Kent with Habitat for Humanity.
