Five months after a Coal County drilling rig fire which took the life of a Catoosa man, KXII, the CBS affiliate in Sherman, Texas has obtained 911 audio and video from that night.
The December 18, 2014 fire killed two men working for Dan D Drilling. One of those men was 27-year-old Kelsey Bellah of Catoosa.
Dispatcher: "Coal County 911, what is your emergency?"
911 Caller: "Yes ma'am I'm out here on a drilling rig off of county road 1710 and the rig just caught on fire and we have multiple people on fire out here."
Dispatcher: "Attention EMS we have several people hurt out on this drilling rig, they're on fire."
Fire and EMS from several Coal County communities responded. One of the responders was Coalgate Assistant Fire Chief Aaron Blue who had a GoPro camera on his helmet.
The GoPro video shows Blue and crew members arriving on scene. The fire is already out. A Coal County sheriff's deputy points Blue in the direction of a worker who was still alive, but needed help.
Along with Kelsey Bellah, Gary Keenen of Ada was killed. Two weeks later, Mark Pittman, 28, died from injuries sustained in the fire. Two other workers remain in the hospital.
