Northeastern State men's basketball took on the University of Central Missouri Saturday morning. The RiverHawks couldn't overpower the Mules, losing 81-62. NSU is now 2-8 on the season and 1-3 in MIAA, while the University of Central Missouri improved to 11-1 overall and 2-1 in league play.
The Mules took an early six point lead, (10-4), at the 15:25 mark. NSU's Demone Harrison cut the lead to three with a basket from behind the arc. The Mules went on a 7-2 run shortly after, when Brennen Hughes dumped a layup. By the 13:06 mark UCM led 17-9.
Central Missouri led by as much as 15 points in the first half, leading 32-20 by halftime. NSU kept the scoring gap close for most of the final half, but the Mules quickly picked up a 22 point lead for a 19 point win over Northeastern State.
NSU guard Demone Harrison led the RiverHawks in shooting, finishing the game with 20 points. Central Missouri's Rakeem Dickerson led all scorers with 21 points.
