Glenpool's Elementary School got a big surprise Thursday when Dollar General presented them with a holiday gift in the form of a check. A $40,000 check!
"Its, its unbelievable. They called and told me it would be a substantial amount of money. $500 would have been a substantial amount of money. But $40,000 is just unbelievable," said Mary Champion, Glenpool Elementary School Principal.
It was a surprise that no teacher, student, and not even the principal knew about until it happened Thursday morning.
Champion told News On 6, the school is forming a committee that will decide how the money is used. But she adds, a lot of the money will go to improving literacy.
