The Tulsa County Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution to start charging the City of Tulsa a new jail booking and incarceration rate if a new agreement is not reached by the end of the month.

During its regular meeting Monday, the commissioners decided that if there is no new agreement by November 1, 2014, Tulsa County will begin charging the city $118 per booking and $52 a day for each City of Tulsa inmate housed at the jail.

Last week, Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett attended a meeting of the Tulsa County Criminal Justice Authority and asked that the rate be dropped. The chairman of the authority, County Commissioner John Smaligo, said it's only fair the city of Tulsa pay its share.

The commissioners also appointed County Commissioner Ron Peters to the Criminal Justice Authority Jail Task Force. The task force will handle negotiations with the city over the new jail rate structure.
