Eastern Oklahoma, Southeast Kansas Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for eastern Oklahoma until 8 p.m.  

The counties include in the watch are Adair, Cherokee, Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Muskogee, Nowata, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Pittsburg, Rogers, Tulsa, Sequoyah, Wagoner and Washington.  

In southeast Kansas, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch includes Chautauqua and Montgomery counties until 3 p.m.

A thunderstorm producing heavy rain, lightning and pea to dime size hail over Tulsa prompted Tulsa State Fair officials to shut down rides on the Midway until the threat passed by.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says have redeveloped across the eastern half of the state ahead of a cold front which is moving into Oklahoma out of Colorado.

Crone says some of these storms are producing heavy rain, damaging winds and some hail.

Temperatures will top out in the mid-80s before the cold front pushes across eastern Oklahoma. Behind the front, Crone says it will be dry and cool.
