Tulsa senior Aimee Creger earned the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week award after she went 2-0 with a save and a 0.38 ERA to lead the Golden Hurricane to a road sweep at UTSA, the league office announced Monday.
In three outings last week the Yukon native struck out 29 batters in 18.2 innings, and allowed four hits and one run with seven walks. This is Creger's fifth C-USA weekly honor of the season, and the 13th of her career.
Creger went the distance in the series finale on Saturday, pitching all 11.0 innings to hold off the Roadrunners in the 2-1 Hurricane victory. She struck out 16 batters and gave up just two hits in the contest, and did not allow a runner past first base after the fifth inning. In the series opener on Friday she tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out 11 batters as TU won 4-0. In Game 2 Friday, Creger picked up her first save of the season. She entered the game with a one run lead in the bottom of the seventh and struck out the only two batters she faced to preserve the 12-11 win.
The 16th-ranked Golden Hurricane (41-5, 15-2 C-USA) plays at Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. Wednesday, before returning home to face Middle Tennessee in a three-game series this weekend, April 26-27.
