Sub-freezing temps this morning will erode quickly with highs in the 60s this afternoon. We're tracking two systems during the next 7 days, including a chance for showers or storms Easter Sunday.
A freeze warning remains for the early morning hours across most of the state with temps dropping into the upper 20s and lower 30s. Clear sky and light winds this morning will support a nice morning with readings moving into the lower or mid 60s by the afternoon along with sunny and mild conditions. Southwest winds will increase into the 10 to 15 mph range later this afternoon. Other than the freezing morning lows, this will turn out to be a spectacular spring afternoon.
The upper air flow will remain somewhat zonal (west to east) for the next few days. This flow will bring another storm system near the area Thursday afternoon and evening. The low level moisture will be lacking and severe weather does not appear possible with this system. The timing of the system supports mainly Thursday late into pre-dawn Friday morning.
Friday will feature north winds with morning lows in the lower 40s and highs in the mid to upper 60s.
Then we'll be tracking a storm system for the Saturday evening into Sunday morning time period, and active weather may remain for Sunday into early Monday morning. It's too early to pin point any severe weather threat for Easter Sunday, but at this juncture in the forecast process. The EURO is further northward and slightly stronger with the lead upper level impulse compared to the GFS. The GFS would have lower pops for northern OK Sunday with the EURO much higher. Due to the lack of confidence for this time period, I'll not make any major changes with the Sunday time period forecast. We do anticipate south winds returning late Friday into Saturday and continuing into Sunday. This will have a tendency to increase gulf moisture in the lower levels.
The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 50 recorded at 2:40pm along with a trace of snow!
The normal daily average high is 72 and the low is 49.
Our daily records include a high of 93 from 1936 and low of 27 from 1928. We'll be close to record lows this morning in Tulsa.
You'll find me on Facebook and twitter.
I'll be discussing the forecast on numerous Radio Oklahoma News Network affiliates across the state through the morning hours.
I'll also be on numerous Clear Channel Radio stations in the Tulsa metro this morning.
Thanks for reading the Tuesday Morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
