Health department authorities are investigating after 40 people reported illness after eating at Las Fuentes Mexican Restaurant in Wagoner.
All the victims reported similar symptoms of acute gastro-intestinal discomfort, diarrhea and vomiting that lasted 24 to 48 hours, according to Oklahoma State Department of Health Epidemiologist Laurence Burnsed.
Health Department officials have interviewed a total of 65 patrons of the restaurant, 40 of whom reported the symptoms.
The investigation is ongoing and lab results on the type of infection have not been completed, Burnsed said, but they believe the illness is viral in nature.
The Wagoner County Health Department is working with the owners and employees of Las Fuentes and say the restaurant is cooperating fully. The restaurant is located at 1211 South McQuarrie Avenue.
They hope to talk to other patrons who ate at the restaurant.
Burnsed did not know when the investigation would be complete.
