Police: Driver Falls Asleep, Crashes Into Tulsa Power Pole

Tulsa police said a driver fell asleep then slammed his SUV into a power pole. It happened on Peoria Avenue near 64th Street.

Police say the man was northbound on Peoria just before 2 a.m. when he crossed the roadway and crashed into the pole.

The force of the crash broke the pole and left it hanging from the power lines. Public Service of Oklahoma workers are on scene replacing the pole. They may have to turn power off in the area to fix the problem, a worker said.

It could take a few hours. Police didn't say if the driver was hurt.
