Recent rainfalls have eased drought conditions throughout much of Oklahoma.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor numbers show that nearly 53 percent of the state is experiencing abnormally dry or drought conditions.
Last week, that number was 75 percent.
News On 6 meteorologist Michael Grogan says what a difference a year can make.
Grogan says in his blog with just a third of the monthly rainfall in July 2012 and temperatures above 110° on some days, we rapidly fell into an extreme drought, the second worst category of drought indicated by the red.
Now, just 23 percent of Oklahoma, confined to the western portion of the state, is in that same scenario.
Grogan says the yellow shading can be seen as a transition out of drought and is not officially classified as a drought.
Thus, Green Country is rather green once again with no official drought to be found.
