Reuters is reporting American Airline's merger with US Airways will win EU approval next month.
The two airlines announced plans to merge in February.
The European Commission will rule on the planned merger by August 6. One source tells Reuters the deal is set to be approved.
The wire service says American and US Airways have agreed to give up two Heathrow slots that are currently used for flights to US Airways' Philadelphia hub.
The $11 billion merger also requires approval from the U.S. Justice and Transportation Departments.
American Airlines: Turbulent Times
American and parent AMR filed for bankruptcy protection in November 2011. A federal judge is scheduled to consider approving AMR's plan of reorganization, including the merger, on August 15 in New York City.
