The Claremore Indian Hospital recently got some good news from the Oklahoma Health Department: it's the first in the state to be designated a "Baby-Friendly" hospital.
That's the gold standard for hospitals, which demonstrate best practices for the care of newborns and mothers.
That includes keeping mothers and babies together, putting babies in skin-to-skin contact right after birth, educating families on the best ways to feed infants, and teaching hospital staff the best ways to support new families.
The Baby-Friendly Hospital is a global initiative of the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund.
