RSU's Monigold Takes SAC Softball Honors

Rogers State's Candace Monigold was named Sooner Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for Feb. 11-17.

Monigold, a junior center fielder from Broken Arrow, Okla., hit .643 for the week with a double, two triples and two home runs in sweeps of Bacone and William Woods for a 4-0 opening week. Monigold slugged 1.429, drove in 11 runs and scored five times.

Katera Eltsosie of Lubbock Christian was named SAC Pitcher of the Week. Eltsosie, a freshman from Albuquerque, N.M., was 3-0 with wins over Friends, Graceland and MidAmerica Nazarene, including a six-inning no-hitter against Graceland. She had a 0.78 earned run average, allowing just six hits and no walks while striking out 20 in 18 innings of work.

Rogers State (4-0) returns to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. as the Hillcats host Grand View in a doubleheader at the Diamond Sports Complex.
