Oklahoma ranks in the top ten nationally for food hardship, and the Iron Gate kitchen serves up hundreds of hot meals every day for people in need.

The city council members say volunteering is just another way to give back to the city they love.

"It's working together, showing our love for this city, and helping those that are under served," said Councilor Jeannie Cue.

Currently more than 700 people are homeless in Tulsa. Nearly 15 percent are children.
