When representatives for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals were in downtown Tulsa in February, they made a few waves.
In the winter temperatures, two very scantily-clad members kissed passionately on a bed at the corner of Fifth and Main Streets under a sign that said "vegetarians make better lovers."
And now, according to a Thursday news release, vegetarians are apparently in love with ONEOK Field, the home of the Colorado Rockies' double-A affiliate Tulsa Drillers.
PETA announced its Top 10 Vegetarian-Friendly Ballparks in the minor leagues, and ONEOK Field rounded out the top 5.
Aside from its usual carnivore-pleasing ballpark fare, ONEOK Field boasts an extensive veggie menu, including a vegetarian taco salad, bean burrito, vegetable wraps, hummus tabouli platter, fresh green salad, Boca burgers, three-bean salad and veggie dogs.
"ONEOK Field might host the minor leagues, but when it comes to the delicious health-, Earth-, and animal-friendly food offered at its concession stands, it's a major league player all the way," PETA Associate Director Chris Holbein said.
