Editor's note: Moving day for News On 6 is coming at the end of the year, so we have to inventory everything in our old building. That includes thousands of old stories. We'll share the best of what we find here on NewsOn6.com.

What better way to beat the heat than ice cream? Sometimes, it's right out of your freezer. Sometimes, you make a special trip to the ice cream parlor.

Or maybe your kids just run out to the curb when they hear music.

Back in 1984, reporter Joe Taylor found one company making some cool cash operating ice cream trucks. Melodee Ice cream used 1956 Chevy Apaches.

But just like today - they blared loud music and sold an assortment of sweet treats. One of the most popular was the "Blue Ghost" popsicle which came with a piece of gum.

The gimmick pop netted some drivers $250 a day. Not bad for 1984.
