The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles were nothing short of dominant Saturday, topping the Western Illinois Leathernecks 10-0 and 2-0 in the doubleheader.
Kurt Giller took the mound for ORU in the first game and kept the Bulldogs' offense from finding any rhythm, pitching all seven innings, giving up just two hits and striking out five in his outing.
From the plate, Jared Schlehuber and Cam Schiller set the Golden Eagles up for success, starting in the second inning. With two on base, Schlehuber homered to take a 3-0 advantage and two at-bats later, Schiller doubled to bring to make it a four-run advantage.
Schiller added one more in the bottom of the sixth and Schlehuber went yard for a second time, putting ORU up 10 runs.
In the second game, Alex Gonzales was perhaps even more impressive than his early-game counterpart, giving up just one hit and striking out five in his seven innings of service.
Jose Trevino hit the Golden Eagles' third home run of the day, first of the late game, taking a 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the second. In the third inning, Kevin Cho grounded out to short stop to allow Jake O'Brien to score and take a two-run lead.
The Golden Eagles will attempt to go for the series sweep at 1 p.m. Sunday, before heading to Fayetteville, Ark. for a mid-week matchup against the Razorbacks.
