Autopsy Of Wagoner Wrestler Shows Death Due To Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Autopsy results released Friday show the 14-year-old wrestler who collapsed during practice at Wagoner High School in December died of sudden cardiac arrest.

Ty'Darius Penney collapsed and began having seizures while he took a final jog around the mat to cool down during wrestling practice.

He was transported to Wagoner Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead on December 14, 2011.

The autopsy said the 8th grader had a reported history of asthma, but the condition did not contribute to his death.

"There can't be a lowest low in education to be in charge of a child, and that child passes away," said Wagoner Superintendent Monte Thompson in a December interview.  

It's not known what caused the sudden cardiac arrhythmia, the report said.
