Four Tulsa players scored in double-figures Sunday, leading the Golden Hurricane to a 75-70 win over the East Carolina Pirates, avoiding a three-game losing streak.
Taleya Mayberry set the high mark for the Golden Hurricane, finishing the game with 22 points on a 7-of-15 performance from the floor, while dishing out six assists. Taylor Hooker chipped in 17 points, Chanice Scott adding 15 points and Tiffani Cousinard finished with a double-double, adding 10 points and 14 rebounds.
The Golden Hurricane played the game tight for the majority of the contest, overcoming an eight-point deficit six minutes into the second half to retake the lead 59-58 – seven from Hooker – with less than eight minutes to play.
ECU responded with a 9-2 run, all three three-pointers coming from Shala Hodges to push their lead back to five points.
However, that's the point when Tulsa went to the charity stripe to close the game down, hitting 12 free throws to close the game out and secure the win.
Tulsa will now head to New Orleans, Louisiana Thursday for a 7 p.m. matchup against the Tulane Green Wave, trying to improve their seeding in the conference tournament.
