COLLEGE STATION, Texas – When the time came, pinch hitter Cassidy Bowen executed her job to perfection.
Bowen stepped up and hit a walk-off two-run single, part of a three-run seventh inning to complete a thrilling comeback and beat Texas-San Antonio 7-6 on Friday afternoon.
The game was part of the Aggie Classic at the Aggie Softball Complex hosted by Texas A&M, whom Tulsa was scheduled to play as well on Friday before rain took over.
Tulsa held leads of 2-0 and 4-1 before UTSA started a furious comeback.
The Roadrunners got six hits in the top of the seventh to burst out to a 6-4 lead and take control of the game.
But Bowen and TU came through in crunch time to improve to 3-1 on the year.
Sophomore Kalynn Schrock moved to 2-0 on the year, picking up the win in the final three innings in relief. Sophomore Aimee Creger got the start and allowed one run in four innings.
TU is set to face North Carolina State at 10 a.m. and UTSA again at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
