Man Charged In 28-Year-Old Oklahoma Murder Dies In Custody

A man, just charged with a 28-year old cold case murder, has died in custody.

Officials at the Blaine County Jail confirm Lester Blackbear died after being flown to an Oklahoma City Hospital Wednesday.

In October, prosecutors charged Blackbear in the 1983 murder of 77-year old Ola Kirk.

The murder charge came after family members and others familiar with the case put pressure on investigators and our Impact Team investigated the OSBI's unsolved murder cases.

While he was charged, Blackbear never went to trial. The family hopes to learn more about the future of the murder case Thursday.
