The Golden Eagles trailed by 11 with 10 minutes left to play Saturday, but poured on the offense late to come away with a 71-65 win over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits and grab their second conference win.
With less than 11 minutes to play, Jennie Sunnarborg scored on a layup to put South Dakota State up 52-43. On the Jackrabbits' next possession, Amber Carver came away with a steal and Kevi Luper was unable to convert on the fast-break layup. However, Amber Carver converted on a put-back to start a big run for ORU.
San Diego State converted on a pair of free throws, but then ORU rattled off 12 unanswered points to take a 56-55 advantage with 5:33 left on the game. After a pair of free throws from Sunnarborg, the Golden Eagles added another six to their total to take a five-point lead with four minutes left to play.
Sunnarborg converted on a three-point play to cut just one possession, but ORU closed the game out by scoring nine points, while the Jackrabbits managed only five.
Jordan Pyle led the charge for Oral Roberts, scoring 17 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists, while Luper and Georgia Jones both contributed 15 in the win.
The Golden Eagles will take Sunday off before hosting the North Dakota State Bison at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
